Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA)
The PSIA, founded in 1961, is a professional organization of full and part-time ski instructors who are dedicated to reaching the highest levels of professionalism and performance within the skiing industry. There are several levels within PSIA, Registered and Certified level 1, Certified level 2, Certified level 3. In order to become either Registered or Certified level 1, you must complete at least 25 hours combined teaching and training at your home area.
Amateur Ski Instructors Association
(ASIA)
The Amateur Ski Instructors Association
The ASIA is a training and certifying organization whose goal is to improve the level of skiing among ski club members and the general skiing public through an organized program of ski instructor training. ASIA is a group of dedicated and concerned skiers who offer the skiing public a unique service, namely the training and certification of amateur ski instructors through individual and club sponsored programs. Each year ASIA offers several weekend certification, skiing improvement refresher courses. The dates, fees, and more information are available at the club meetings and in the newsletter. National Ski Patrol
The National Ski Patrol is an organization of highly motivated volunteers from all walks of life who provide first aid for injured skiers and are committed to safe skiing. Ski Patrol Candidates must spend their first year learning the individual mountain area’s policies, procedures and terrain and must pass on-mountain ski and toboggan training and first aid training. In addition, volunteers must hold CPR and Winter Emergency Care Certifications.
